A Flat Alternative to the $199 Renewal

The Console Is the Best in the Category

Praise where it belongs. ZenBusiness has built the most refined dashboard any of these companies offer. Formation paperwork, compliance prompts, and incoming agent documents all live behind one login, arranged by people who plainly cared about the experience. An owner who wants a general business admin panel with the agent role folded into it is making a defensible purchase, and this page will not pretend otherwise.

The First Year and the Other Years Are Priced Differently

Purchased alone, with nothing bundled beneath it, the agent product starts at $99 plus state fees for the opening term. What follows is $199 annually, indefinitely. Neither figure is concealed and neither is a trick. The second one is the number that describes your real Maryland spending, because an entity on file with SDAT needs an agent in year four and year nine exactly as much as it needs one in year one.

Nothing about the underlying duty changes when the invoice does. Somebody has to keep a Maryland street address staffed through business hours and take a summons when a process server walks in. The work in year seven is the work in year one. Only the billing moved.

The phrase "plus state fees" riding along with that opening figure also leaves the first charge dependent on whatever filings you attach at checkout.

Maryland Wants Two Addresses, Not One

Worth knowing before you weigh any agent quote in this state. Section 4A-210 requires every Maryland LLC to keep a principal office here as well as a resident agent. Most states stop at the agent. Buying agent service settles the second half of that pair; the principal office line on your record stays your own to maintain. Any vendor implying that a subscription covers both is describing some other state's rules.

The Resolution That Replaces ZenBusiness in Maryland

Maryland's statutory phrase is resident agent, and a single document moves it. Maryland titles that document Resolution to Change Principal Office or Resident Agent, and because SDAT publishes charter forms without numbers, the name is the only identifier there is. It goes to the Charter Division and costs $25 for domestic and foreign entities alike. Online submission runs through Maryland Business Express, where paying by card adds a 3 percent service charge on top of the fee.

In order:

1. Enroll with the incoming agent and collect its Maryland name and street address.
2. Fill in the resolution with your entity name, your SDAT identification number, and those details.
3. Sign it, send it to the Charter Division, and pay the $25.
4. Watch the public entity listing until the incoming agent's name appears on it.
5. Only then cancel the ZenBusiness renewal.

Step five sits last on purpose. The vacancy owners create for themselves comes from shutting off the old subscription before the new appointment is recorded. Run these in order and there is no interval when your record lists nobody at all. A footnote on the fee: an agent that resigns of its own accord pays Maryland nothing for that filing.
